Yesterday, we arrived in Kyoto. Teddy and I lived in Kyoto for a year in 2007 when I did the JET Program, so we are super excited to show Mom and Brittany all around the area.
The first day, we took them to Arashiyama to see the Monkey Park and the bamboo groves.
A cute butterfly we saw on the way to the Monkey Park.
The three of us in front of the Togetsukyo Bridge.
A pretty boat in a small river in Arashiyama.
A lizard in Arashiyama.
Personally, I saw no deer.
My mom said, “GEEZ! How high do I have to climb?!?” Higher than Kyoto Tower, according to a sign close to the top.
A monkey looking thoughtful. The monkey park in Arashiyama is more like a nature reserve. The monkeys are not caged. If you want to feed the monkeys, you actually have to go inside a building with caging on the windows to feed them safely.
A monkey resting.
This monkey was washing and drinking.
Teddy feeding a monkey.
A monkey chewing on its food.
My mom feeding a monkey.
Me with a monkey.
This monkey looked pretty angry.
This baby monkey was hiding in the bushes in the pond.
Going for a swim.
Monkeys sitting in a tree.
A monkey sitting on a rock.
They had this fun slide! Teddy had to scoot down.
My skirt was very slippery. I FLEW down the slide super fast! It was kind of scary, but really fun!!
Well, that’s all for the Monkey Park! The next post will be about the rest of our day!
