This weekend was filled with fun events.
Friday, we had an okonomiyaki party with people from school.
Steve and I feeling our griddles to check if they are ready.
Teddy is taking the credit for my perfect okonomiyaki flip.
Steve made Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki.
Ann and Hannah with Steve and Miku’s daughter, Amana.
The food! Yum!!
The next day, Teddy and I slept in like champions and then biked to Fushimi for lunch. We then headed over to Osu for shopping. After that, we went back home and went to our nearby park, Shonai Ryokuchi Koen, to see the roses.
I love these cute little birds. They are everywhere in Nagoya.
A pond in the park.
A crane in the pond.
Some pretty yellow roses in the park.
Me with a rose-covered arch.
After a lovely picnic in the park, we hopped on the train, and went two stops to Higashi-Biwajima to see Yasaka Jinja’s lantern festival.
Cute bags of cotton candy.
Pretty lanterns at the shrine entrance.
A big lantern in front of the 5-teired lanterns.
A shrine maiden shaking bells over worshippers’ heads.
A close-up of the tiered lanterns.
Me in front of the lanterns.
A neat view looking up from underneath the lanterns.
As a note: This festival was cool, and takes place the third Saturday in May. However, there really was not much to see other than what I have posted here, so I don’t know that it would be worth it to make a super long trip to see it.
Well, that is all for Friday and Saturday. The next post will be about mine and Teddy’s 7 year anniversary!
