Botanical Gardens and Odori Koen

Since the weather actually held up fairly well yesterday, we also went to the Hokkaido University Botanical Gardens. In the evening, we hung out at Odori Koen.

The botanical gardens seemed more like a slightly controlled forest, but they were nice to walk through. I highly recommend large amounts of mosquito repellant, however.

There was a bridge over a stagnant, mosquito filled lake.

Bee and butterfly

A butterfly and a bee on cute puff-ball flowers.

Another bee collecting pollen from an interesting yellow puff flower.

There was a really nice rose garden.

Rose archway

There was a pretty rose-covered archway in the garden.

Bee and flower

Strange bug

An odd bug on a pretty purple flower.

Bell flower

A cute mini bell flower.

Carnivorous plant

This is some variety of carnivorous plant. I thought it was really pretty!

Lotuses are one of my favorite flowers. Here’s an especially beautiful purple one.

Venus fly traps

Itsy bitsy Venus fly traps!!

Yesterday evening, we wandered through Odori Koen.

There are many cute flower displays, including these seals.

This sculpture is actually a really fun slide!

TV Tower

This is the Sapporo TV Tower.

Sometimes, the tower does a light show.

Lightshow 2

Another show of the light show.

After the light show finishes, the closer fountain stops spraying and you can see the reflection of the tower in the pond.

Well, that is all for now!
